Due to COVID there are an increasing number of people working or doing their schooling from home. Keeping active is good for your physical health and also your mental wellbeing. Taking that first step to start exercising can be the most difficult. We would like to encourage people of all ages to get more active.
With the potential of ongoing lockdowns, gyms and many organised team sports are either not continuing or operating with certain restrictions. This makes a program of exercises that you can complete from home, tailored to your needs very useful!
Just incorporating 20 mins of dedicated movement each day can have huge benefits such as:
● Lower risk of heart attack
● Better weight management
● Lower blood cholesterol level.
● Lower risk of type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
● Lower your blood pressure.
● Stronger bones, muscles and joints and lower risk of developing osteoporosis.
● Lower risk of falls
The Murrumbidgee Local Health District has produced an excellent online resource that has many different options to help get you moving with multiple home based movement programs, flexibility workouts and excellent tips to help incorporate movement during the current tough times. You can find it at https://www.mlhd.health.nsw.gov.au/healthy-living/physical-activity and next time you're in for an appointment, don’t forget to ask our Chiropractors if there are any specific exercises they think may be of benefit to help keep you moving between visits.
